Hutchinson, Assistant Professor of English at Cornell, was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica. He attended the University of the West Indies, Mona, New York University, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Utah. His first collection of poetry, Far District, won the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award. His poetry and essays have appeared in such publications as Attica, Caribbean Review of Books, and LA Review.

A special Valentine’s Day JazzSpacesIthaca concert, featuring Donald Vega, piano, and Peter Bernstein, guitar, takes place on Thursday, February 14 at the Carriage House Cafe in Ithaca.
JazzSpacesIthaca, which was initiated by faculty from Cornell’s Minority, Indigenous, and Third World Studies (MITWS) research group, has succeeded in creating a venue where the Ithaca community celebrates itself through live music and conversation.
